Notes:

If you live in Europe you can store your information in the US and vice versa.

Case 1: The total $ 0.6197 is for the first month and I would be surprised if you require to store another 2000 documents in the second month, say 20, but maybe you are a keen photographer and produce another 200 the following month. Crunch the numbers.

Case 2: The total $26.2 is again for the first month but in this case you provide the movies of your family for your family and you may wish to replace or add more movies. This could get expensive but compare it to buying 100 DVD's, burning them and posting them. Maybe your films are not so interesting as you think and you don't get 100 downloads. There is nothing stopping you charging for the downloads, and so it goes on.

My own personal mix is nearer case 1 and has built up to maybe 500 photographs and 40,000 documents. Initially my monthly bills were $0.05 rising to my current $0.46 last month. There is no minimum monthly fee and my $0.05 was converted into a correct Euro amount (I am in Germany) again with no additions

For instance I have ignored

From Amazon site

Requests

  • $0.01 per 1,000 PUT , COPY, POST , or LIST requests
  • $0.01 per 10,000 GET and all other requests *
* No charge for delete requests

End from Amazon site

On my 40,000 documents this means 40 * $0.01 = $0.4 to load them in 1 month above what I have quoted above
and if I download them all this would add another 4 * $0.01 = $ 0.04 above the costs quoted above.
Thus my reason for ignoring them, but there are users of Amazon S3 with over 10 Million files stored there.
